I am so excited to be back with my first cake tutorial of 2020. For this weeks video I really wanted to create a pretty buttercream cake which would be great for both beginners who are looking to get into baking in 2020, and anyone just looking for a simple, fun cake idea.

So if you want to see how I made this buttercream cake with pretty clusters of roses just scroll down for the FREE tutorial…

Buttercream Rose Cake Tutorial

The cake was made from 4 layers of my vanilla sponge cake (click here for the recipe) which I covered in this turquoise / blue buttercream. In the video I not only show you how I fill and cover my cakes in buttercream, but also give you a little tip if you’re struggling to get smooth sides. The cake was then covered in these pretty pink buttercream rosette style roses and finished off with little buttercream leaves.  For the roses I used a small closed star tip, in the size #34, although in some brands you might find it called the #35 and the #352 for the small leaves.

As well as the vanilla sponge cake recipe, if you are interested in my buttercream recipe you can find it in my tutorial section.

I really love how this cake came out, it has a very Cath Kidston, vintage look to it, which I love. Plus you can also make this cake in any colour to match your theme.

I really hope you like the cake and if you would like to watch the full tutorial just click on the video below. I really can’t wait to bring you more tutorials throughout 2020:

I always watch ur tutorial video.thank you

    1. Hi Linda, You just want to use a small closed star tip. If you don’t have a closed star tip you can also use just a regular small star tip which will give a similar effect. I hope this helps.
