So as we head towards the New Year, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas. I wanted to end the year with one more cake decorating video tutorial, so I though it only fitting this be New Year themed. So for this weeks video tutorial I am going to show you how to make this black, white and gold hand drawn firework themed cake.

This year it has been so amazing that so many people from all over the world have been watching and commenting on my videos. Thank you so much to every single one of you for watching and for your lovely comments, I really hope you have enjoyed the videos this year. The way YouTube has enabled so many people from different parts of the world to come together really brought the idea for this cake to life, so I have picked out a few landmarks which have New Years Eve firework displays and added fireworks above these. So wherever you are in the world I want to wish you a very Happy New Year!

The cake itself is a 6 inch cake which measured 5 and a half inches in height. I had so much fun hand-drawing all the landmarks and fireworks onto this cake. You can download the template that I used for all the buildings and fireworks here! It can be a little daunting drawing straight onto the gumpaste, so I used parchment paper and my edible pen to trace over the outlines. Because of the texture of the parchment paper the edible pen doesn’t dry on the surface, so I was able to turn this over and print it onto my gumpaste shapes and side of the cake, and use this as a guide to draw over. I love how all the different elements came out.

The cake wouldn’t have been complete without ‘Happy New Year’ written across the front, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use my Sweet Stamp set by Amy Cakes. I used the handwritten upper and lowercase sets and the mini message set for the date at the bottom. The handwritten set was perfect to use next to the hand- drawn landmarks and when painted with gold paint it really added the perfect amount of colour to this cake.
