Last year I created a giant coffee mug cake to be raffled off for the Macmillan coffee morning. This year I was asked to create another cake for the raffle, but I decided instead of the coffee mug to keep to the same theme, but create a packet of half eaten biscuits. I chose Rich Tea biscuits as these were on the side of the cake last year…

This was a really fun cake to create. The cake was a 6 inch sponge cake (not made with any biscuits!) which was covered in the blue icing/fondant to show the packet falling away. The biscuits are made with long sausage shapes of icing wrapped around the cake with a large piece of icing on the top to show the top biscuit. My favourite part of this cake is the crumbs and coffee cup mark on the board. I usually try and keep the boards looking really clean, but I think this added to the reality of the cake.

From the close up images you can see that I then brushed on different shades of cream / brown edibles dusts to make the biscuit look more realistic, and copied the detail ontop.
